چکیده

When a high power laser beam irradiates small aperture on solid foil target, the strong field drives surface plasma oscillation at periphery of this aperture, which acts as ``relativistic oscillating window.'' The diffracted light that travels though such an contains high-harmonics fundamental frequency. driving is circularly polarized, high-harmonic generation (HHG) process facilitates conversion spin angular momentum into intrinsic orbital harmonics. By means theoretical modeling and fully 3D particle-in-cell simulations, it shown harmonic beams order $n$ are optical vortices with topological charge $|l|=n\ensuremath{-}1$, power-law spectrum ${I}_{n}\ensuremath{\propto}{n}^{\ensuremath{-}3.5}$ produced for sufficiently intense beams, where ${I}_{n}$ intensity $n$th harmonic. This work opens up new realm possibilities producing extreme ultraviolet vortices, diffraction-based HHG studies relativistic intensities.

Spin-Orbit Effects in Atomic High-Harmonic Generation

Spin-orbit interactions lead to small energy gaps between the outer-most p1/2 and p3/2 shells of noble gas atoms. Strong-field pulses tunnel-ionize an electron out of either shell resulting in spinorbit-driven hole motion. These hole dynamics affect the HHG yield. However, the spectral shape as well as the angular distribution of the HHG emission is not influenced by spin-orbit coupling. We dem...

High harmonic generation in relativistic laser–plasma interaction

High harmonics generated due to the scattering of relativistic electrons from high intensity laser light is studied. The experiments are carried out with an Nd:Glass laser system with a peak intensity of 2310 W cm in underdense plasma. It is shown that, at high intensities, when the normalized electric field approaches unity, in addition to the conventional atomic harmonics from bound electrons...

Relativistic electron vortex beams: angular momentum and spin-orbit interaction.

Motivated by the recent discovery of electron vortex beams carrying orbital angular momentum (AM), we construct exact Bessel-beam solutions of the Dirac equation. They describe relativistic and nonparaxial corrections to the scalar electron beams. We describe the spin and orbital AM of the electron with Berry-phase corrections and predict the intrinsic spin-orbit coupling in free space. This ca...

Spin-orbit Pendulum – Relativistic Extension

We discuss an extension of the theory of spin-orbit pendulum phenomenon given in [1] to relativistic approach. It is done within the so called Dirac Oscillator. Our first results, focusing on circular wave packet motion have been published recently [2]. The scope of this paper is motion of a linear wave packet. In relativistic approach we found Zitterbewegung in spin-orbit motion (in Dirac repr...

High-harmonic generation in plasmas from relativistic laser-electron scattering

Results are presented on the generation of high harmonics through the scattering of relativistic electrons from high-intensity laser light. The characteristic signatures of this process are found to be the emission of evenorder harmonics, linear dependence on the electron density, significant amount of harmonics with circular polarization, and small spatial extent of the source. The harmonics a...
